Paints and Pixels

Hello!

It’s been a long time. I apologize. Running to art type business is challenging, and I’ve fell out of routine for keeping up on both. If I stay in a routine, I get so much done. Sadly, once that routine is disrupted, I find it so hard to get back into it. *sigh*

While, I’m not 100% back with routines, I’m back to producing art.

Oil Painting

I’ve decided to call this one finished.

An oil painting on an easel of a cooled black lava field at sunset, soft yellow/pink in the sky, casting a purple hue over the water. A plumb of dark purple smoke billows in the background.

It’s been on the easel for so many months, and I’ve looked at it daily. While I can always add to it, I find I like it the way it is. So, it’ll stay like it is.

Since I loved my lighthouse painting, I have decided to stay with that theme for now. My next lighthouse painting is on a canvas I put a yellow ochre primer. Then, I tried the technique where you use a burnt umber, thin it down and apply it over the sketch. Here is the starting point for my next painting:

A canvas on an easel with a tan background with dark brown outline image of a lighthouse on a cliff with a wave in front crashing on rocks.

I love this look…ha ha. I’ll start with the sky like I did before and work my way down to the base of the painting. I hope it turns out as great as the previous one.

Digital Art

I’m still working on getting my art to places where it can be purchased. Redbubble and Spoonflower are good options, however, they’re not as easy to show more people my art as I had hoped. I found a couple new sites for selling art, and that’s the next steps for easier platforms for purchase.

I’ve recently learned about ACEOs (art cards, editions, and origional artworks). They’re the size of a playing card. Often purchased and traded with others. I’ve a few already made and sold. They’ll be on Ebay – the primary place for purchasing them. The plan is to get them ready to sale by June. I’ll post updates when I’m closer to listing them if you love AECOs!

Thank you for checking in for updates! I love creating works of art. Hopefully, soon you can purchase the ones you love too!
